NEC Code Terminology - Computer Career
COURSE DESCRIPTIONIn this course, terminology and key words found in the NFPA NEC ® 2011 and 2008 Code books are discussed and listed for your review. The terms and key words listed are drawn from two groupings: 1) terms and key words in the current NEC 2011 Code that were changed or otherwise revised from the 2008 NEC Code, and 2) terms and key words from both editions, changed or unchanged, that draw on important information from the NEC Code or help the student to achieve learning objectives by their review. Key words and terms are regularly in boldface type and include reference to the particular section(s) or Chapter(s) in the NEC Code when more information is given.
Learning Objectives*Identify the primary purpose of the Code as a form of protection for people and equipment from electrical hazards; *Find definitions of terminology and key words in the NEC Code; *Have specific knowledge of the terminology from the NEC Code for electrical installations, installation procedures, including preparations and approval, and obtaining access to the spaces about electrical conductors and to electrical conductors; *Identify and define terminology for grounded conductors, branch circuits, feeders, and other related services; *Identify and define terminology related to the wiring methods described in the NEC Code such as cable and related information regarding conduits, tubing, raceways, and extensions; *Identify and define principles in the NEC Code as they apply to equipment for general use, such as flexible cords, lamps, lighting and luminaries, appliances, motors, overcurrent protection, and many other types of equipment
