Mike Miller
Mike Miller is the retired president of Miller Electric, Inc. in Watertown SD. His electrical career started as an apprentice in 1971. Looking for a change, he and his wife, Marilyn, started their company in 1978. Miller Electric, Inc. is an electrical contracting firm specializing in industrial, commercial, and residential wiring. Mike has a current Electrical Inspectors License as well a North Dakota Master Electrician License.
Mike was born and raised in Watertown and graduated from Watertown High School in 1969. He attended South Dakota State University for two years and then joined the National Guard where he was commissioned a second lieutenant He spent 10 years in the National Guard and was the commander of the Flandreau SD unit at the time of his departure from the military. In 1999, Mike was elected the first president of the Brookings-Watertown - SDEC Chapter. He served five years in that position. Most recently he served two years as the president of the State Board of Directors.
Recognizing the importance of training his own employees, he extrapolated this effort to a point that developed into a passion for teaching. For the past 19 years he has traveled the highways of South Dakota providing new courses annually on the National Electrical Code. Many electricians across the midwest have enjoyed his presentations for continuing education credits.
Mike and Marilyn have 4 children (Michelle, Rick, Jason, and Angela) and 7 grandchildren He is also a retired religious education instructor for Holy Name Catholic Church in Watertown and had been for 30 years.
His spare time is spent doing carpentry work and spoiling his grandchildren.
