Course Summary

Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Training Program (EVITP) Certification

This course will cover the history of electric vehicles, their evolution and what we can expect in the future. We will discuss the electrical vehicle supply equipment, the different levels of charging and the different configurations and mounting of the equipment. There will be lengthy discussions on the national electrical code and how it pertains to electric vehicles, as well as several residential and commercial load calculations. There will be discussion on site assessment and what needs to be covered when an individual does one. We will cover the commissioning of the electric vehicle supply equipment and how photovoltaic systems and electric vehicle charging can work together. We will discuss electrical safety as it pertains to electric vehicles. There will be discussion on wireless energy transfer as well as facility energy-based storage. We will cover the first responder’s responsibilities and safety precautions when they deal with electric vehicles. To receive their installer certification, the students must take and pass the certification exam given at the completion of the course.

Blaine Horalek

Blaine has been a licensed Journeyman wireman in the state of Nebraska since 1990. He obtained his Contractors license in 2000. He has taught electrical apprenticeship classes as an adjunct SCC instructor through the IBEW LU265 Training Center since 2012.

Blaine has attended the National Training Institute (NTI) at the University of Michigan in 2014, 2016, 2017, and 2018, and has taken course studies in Adult Education and Power Quality.
