Electrical PLC and PC Troubleshooting

Industrial companies continue to strive for efficiency and reduced downtime, and practical knowledge of troubleshooting techniques has become an essential tool for those responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing PLC and PC based automation systems. This 8 hour, hands on, lab focused class will review basic electrical safety, electrical theory, and circuit design. The focus of the class is to provide the student with practical hands on experience troubleshooting electrical and software issues centered on SLC500 and CompactLogix PLC based systems utilizing Wonderware GUI/HMI communications. Several real life scenarios will be explored to help the student learn and refine logical troubleshooting techniques and best practices. Students will work in groups, at different simulators/stations. When the objective is obtained for each station, the students will advance to the next station. Upon completion of this course, participants should have an understanding of basic electrical safety, electrical theory, circuit design, and have a greater knowledge of electrical troubleshooting techniques that can be implemented immediately to reduce downtime and improve the efficiency of their plant/worksite. This course is applicable to electrical industry professionals serving industrial environments. For maximum benefit of this course, participants should have an understanding of basic electrical principles such as Ohms law, mutimeter selection and use, and schematic/blueprint reading.
