Bruce Baharat

In his more than 15-year industry tenure, Bruce Bharat has focused on the design, development and deployment of end-to-end system solutions, including wireless networks for control, monitoring and connectivity. He has an additional specialty in enterprise and cloud-based software for reporting and data analytics across varied asset-intensive industries such as Oil and Gas, Utilities and Telecommunications. Prior to joining Acuity Brands, Bruce worked with enterprises including General Electric, Elster-Honeywell and Motorola.

In his current role at Acuity Brands as Vice President - Sales, he leads the effort to support growth and attachment of connectivity and IoT-ready solutions to traditional lighting products. Prior to this, Bruce lead the strategic direction for networked controls platforms and solutions that jointly support lighting controls, building systems and Internet-of-Things (IoT) applications and is the visionary behind the nLight® AIR platform, the lighting industry’s leading wireless controls offering that delivers several industry-first features including the simple commissioning using a mobile application, a 5-Tier security framework, upgradeability to support IoT applications, and indoor-to-outdoor lighting controls using one network . Bruce Bharat was awarded the prestigious “M2M Pioneers Award” from M2M Magazine (now Connect World) in 2009 for his innovation and development of advanced, wireless networks for utilities.

Bruce holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Miami.
